Dental Bonding
Carmel, IN

Dental bonding will improve the look of your teeth quickly and easily. Cracks can grow and spread, and chips can lead to decay.

Dental bonding is a common and popular treatment option if you have gaps between your teeth, cracked teeth, chips in your teeth, decaying teeth or even if you have exposed roots caused by other dental conditions. The dental bonding is created from a composite resin material that is quite strong and can be molded and shaped to look and feel like your real teeth. Dental bonding is not an appliance like a dental bridge or a dental implant, but it is a substance applied to a tooth that can be shaped to restore the look and function of that tooth with ease.

The staff at Northside Dental share one collective philosophy and that is to treat you as a person first, as a patient second. We will prioritize your time, your comfort, any anxiety issues, your budget, and your lifestyle. We will work as your teammate in developing and implementing your personalized dental treatment plan. The Dental Bonding Procedure

Dental bonding is both quick and quite easy. The tooth that needs the attention will be cleaned and dried. We will then apply cleansers and adhesives to the tooth to it to receive the dental bonding application.

This preparation of the tooth allows for the dental bonding to permanently attach to the existing tooth surface. The bonding resin is made up of several components, which includes a glue-like substance that adheres the resin composite to the surface of the tooth. We will apply the resin in layers until the desired thickness is achieved. We can shape, sculpt, and mold this putty-like substance to our liking to keep your tooth looking natural.

We will color the compound to match your neighboring teeth, and then after we have shaped the resin it is hardened using a special light that will set the compound quickly and easily. We will clean and polish your new tooth, and we will adjust it to fit your bite and your smile. The entire dental bonding process usually takes 1-2 hours, depending on the number of teeth we wish to address with the bonding and the severity of the damage to the tooth or teeth being improved.

The Benefits of Dental Bonding

There are numerous benefits to having dental bonding applied to your teeth. The first benefit is that it will instantly improve the look of your teeth and your smile. This will come as a great relief if you struggle with some cracked or chipped teeth and cannot wait to get them teeth fixed.

A second benefit is that the bonding can also strengthen that tooth overall; when a tooth is cracked, it is more susceptible to bacteria, infection, and even further damage. Restoring the natural shape of a cracked or chipped tooth will also mean that some of the strength can be restored as well.

Another benefit of dental bonding is that it is immediate. Most dental bonding treatments can be completed in just one visit with Northside Dental, which means you really do not need to walk around with chipped or cracked teeth any longer. You can always have your dental bonding touched up at any future dental visits if you notice the bonding is wearing away, or if it needs to be replaced.

Candidate for Dental Bonding?

Are simply tired of looking at that gap between your teeth? Are you feeling self-conscious about the crack in your front tooth? Dental bonding will improve the look of your teeth quickly and easily. The longer you put off having chips or cracks treated, the more risk you actually pose to your teeth. Cracks can grow and spread, and chips can lead to decay.

If left unattended and decay or further damage continues, more invasive procedures might be necessary. It is wise to seek treatment and correct your cracked or chipped teeth as soon as possible. Dental bonding is also suitable for children, teenagers, and adults of all ages.

Dental Bonding Provides Lasting Aesthetics

Dental bonding is not permanent, but it certainly can last a long time. When the bonding is cared for properly, and when you visit our staff at Northside Dental on a regular basis for checkups, exams and touch-ups, dental bonding can last for many years. Proper care of the dental bonding is important because it can start to discolor after some time. If you do not take care of your bonded teeth you will see discoloration start to occur. If you have severely damaged teeth, your dental bonding might need to be replaced with a more permanent solutions or restoration later.

Dental Bonding versus Veneers

Dental bonding is designed for the use in simple cosmetic improvements that do not impact the function of your teeth or gums in any way. Chips, cracks, and gaps are the most common defects that dental bonding is so good at correcting. Bonding is different from veneers because veneers are made of layered glass ceramics and crafted outside of the dental clinic in a special dental lab. The veneer is also designed to look and feel like your real teeth, and it adheres to your tooth with a bonded cement. Veneers are more expensive than the dental bonding solution.
